Dempo Sports Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Lector Mascarenhas as the General Secretary of the club, effective from June 1, 2025.

"Mascarenhas brings with him a rich legacy as both a footballer and an administrator. His playing career began with his home club, Guardian Angel Sports Club, Curchorem-Sanvordem. He was part of the Goa Junior Team that won the Junior National Football Championship in 1981 and later played for several esteemed clubs, including Salgaocar SC, Tata Sports Club (Mumbai), Dempo SC, and Customs & Central Excise (Mumbai)," the Golden Eagles stated.

Lector represented Goa in the Santosh Trophy, contributing to the team’s victory in 1983 and 1984, and donned the Indian national team jersey during the Super Soccer series against Brazil’s Sao Paolo FC in the 1980s. Known for his energy, discipline, and footballing intelligence, Lector was a dynamic midfielder who earned respect both on and off the pitch.

Following his retirement as Assistant Collector of Customs and Central Excise, Mascarenhas served as the General Secretary of the Goa Football Association for a year, further enhancing his experience in football administration.

Welcoming him back, Shrinivas Dempo, Chairman of the Dempo Group of Companies and Dempo Sports Club, stated: “Lector is a multifaceted personality. His exceptional football career, combined with strong administrative credentials, will be a great asset in advancing the vision of Dempo SC. His leadership will undoubtedly benefit our Academy, Pro-League, and I-League teams.”

Expressing gratitude for the appointment, Mascarenhas said, “It’s been a long journey—from once playing for Dempo SC to now returning as General Secretary. I am deeply honoured to rejoin this prestigious club. As a player, I was always disciplined and hardworking, and I will bring the same commitment to my new role. I’m especially pleased to see the potential in the Dempo Football Academy, which is capable of producing top-tier talent for Goan and Indian football.”
