
Dzire 7 receive the winners' trophy for Piedade Baptista Memorial football tourney.

Dzire 7 emerged winners of the first edition of the Piedade Baptista Memorial, an all-India futsal tournament, organised by Baptista Warriors, defeating Goa Soap Football (GSF) 7-0 in the final played at The Base, Seraulim, recently.
In a one-sided final, Dzire 7 were way superior on the field than their opponents. Having dominated the entire tournament earlier, recording massive wins, Dzire 7 showed why they were the most feared team in the competition, scoring early in the game through Sheldon Pereira.
Sheldon with his strong left foot was unstoppable as he then scored two quick goals from a distance catching the keeper off guard to complete his treble. Meuton Fernandes then added two more goals before Romario sealed the win with another two goals to make the comeback impossible for GSF.
Earlier GSF had defeated Baptista Warriors in the semifinals while Dzire semifinals had got the better of SFX Fatorda in the first semifinals.
Cecilia Baptista, wife of late Piedade Baptista was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Colva ZP Member Vania Baptista, Salvador Baptista, Rosa Maria Baptista and others. The winners were richer by a lakh while the runners-up had to settle for Rs 60,000 and trophies.
