Enrique Jesus Rodrigues struck five goals as South Goa United CSC thumped Young Boys of Tonca SC 18-0 in the GFA's Under-15 Division I league stage at SAG Artificial Turf Ground, Fatorda on Wednesday.
South Goa United completely dominated the game as Elton Fernandes, Watson Fernandes, Maxwell Fernandes, Jade, Pires Alex, Miranda, Casvino Fernandes and Alex Fernandes accounted for one goal each.
In another match at Sinquetim Ground, Dempo Sports Club thrashed Guardian Angel SC Curchorem 8-0. The highlight of the match was a brilliant hat-trick by Vasu Redkar. Yug Ramrao Palyekar, Adrin German Gomes, Declon Monteiro, Reuben D'Souza and Shreyash Shetye scored one goal each.
Meanwhile, Churchill Brothers made short work of Panjim Footballers 5-1. Tanesh Varak struck twice while Rajanikant Kurade, Musab Shaikh and Vancio Gomes struck one goal apiece. Ashlon Fernandes reduced the margin.
Calangute Veterans down Fatorda 2-1
Calangute Veterans edged past Fatorda Veterans 2-1 to enter into the final of the Henry Araujo Memorial football tournament played at Loutolim ground on Wednesday.
Francis Andrade opened the scoreline for Fatorda in the 22nd minute. It didn't take long for Calangute to equalise as, three minutes later, Shailesh Miskin equalised for Calangute. Miskin netted again for Calangute in the 30th minute for the eventual winner, 2-1.
Turambekar honoured at AFC Awards
Former Dempo SC technical director Anju Turambekar was honoured at the AFC Annual Awards held in Doha, Qatar recently for being a jury member. She selected the award winners in certain categories at the event and was honoured along with other football stalwarts from Asia. Turambekar has been serving as India's first woman AFC panel member and technical expert since 2019.
