Fondegal YC secured their place in the finals of the 5th Cumborda Sports Club Football Tournament with a 1-0 win over Bhatti United at the St. Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Friday. The tournament is organized by the Cumborda Sports Club.
Fondegal took an early lead in the 15th minute when Shannon found the back of the net, finishing off a well-timed assist from Mario. Bhatti United responded with a long-range effort from Nelroy, but Fondegal goalkeeper Fresly made a crucial save to keep his side ahead.
In the second half, Mario nearly doubled the lead for Fondegal with a brilliant header, but Bhatti goalkeeper Perry pulled off a superb save to keep his team in the game.
Bhatti pushed hard for an equaliser in the closing stages, but Fondegal’s defence held firm. Shannon’s goal proved to be the match-winner, securing Fondegal YC a place in the final, where they will face Paldem SC on Sunday.
Shannon of Fondegal YC was named Man of the Match for his decisive performance.
