Goa teams set for 35th senior national tennis-ball cricket championship in Jammu

Goa’s men’s and women’s tennis-ball cricket teams are all set to participate in the 35th Senior National Tennis Ball Cricket Championship, which will take place in Jammu from November 18-21.

The women’s team will be captained by Deesha Kambli from Pernem, while the men’s team will be led by Punit Khandeparkar from Chorao. Both teams were selected based on the players' performance at the pre-national coaching camp held at Marcel, which began on November 3.

The teams were given a warm send-off at the SAG Indoor Stadium in Campal on Wednesday. The farewell ceremony was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Sadanand Shet Tanawade, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Goa; Chandrapal Varma, businessman; Sandhya Paliekar, Vice President of the Goa Tennis Ball Cricket Association (GTBCA); Kirtan Vaiz, Convenor of GTBCA; Ropesh Naik, Secretary of GTBCA; Shubham Narvekar, businessman; Haresh Parsekar and Nilesh Naik, coaches; and Amey Parab, Manager of the team.

Tanawade congratulated the players and wished them the best of luck for their participation in the national championship. He also praised the efforts of the Goa Tennis Ball Cricket Association for their contributions to the sport over the past 24 years, with the association having won more than 100 national-level medals.

Men’s Team: Punit Khandeparkar (Captain), Harsh Gala, Hitesh Morey, Deep Palni, Vijay Lambor, Anish Naik, Shoaib Ansari, Sachin Mahale, Prasad Nagvekar, Abhishek Gaonkar (Vice-Captain), Pintu Mali, Yash Kinlekar, Supresh Gadekar, Saiesh Naik, Ajay Halgekar.

Women’s Team: Deesha Kambli (Captain), Pradnya Pednekar, Shxipra Naik (Vice-Captain), Santoshi Tuyekar, Pooja Paryekar, Siddhi Chari, Priyanka Parwar, Sharada Arondekar, Simran Naik, Reecha Sawant, Pratiksha Kerkar, Purva Gawde, Vinkita Naik, Sapna Naik, Chaitrali Mestri.
