Despite a determined performance, Goans Hockey fell short against Hockey Bengal, losing 2-4 in a thrilling Division ‘B’ encounter on Day 3 of the 15th Hockey India Sub Junior Men National Championship.

Goans Hockey held their own through the first half, keeping the scoreline level and showing solid defensive discipline. The momentum shifted in the third quarter when Hockey Bengal’s Munna Kumar Singh broke the deadlock in the 37th minute via a penalty corner. Goans Hockey responded strongly just five minutes later, with Ansh Ankush Gaonkar netting a well-crafted field goal in the 42nd minute, bringing the score to 1-1 and ending the third quarter on level terms.

In the final quarter, Goans Hockey struggled to contain a renewed Bengal attack. Despite conceding two quick goals in the 47th and 49th minutes, the home side refused to back down. Sahil Pramod Jambotkar brought Goans Hockey back into the game with a 54th-minute goal, reducing the deficit.

However, their fightback was cut short when Hockey Bengal scored once again in the 57th minute, sealing the match.
