The Goans Hockey Boys and Girls team put up a spectacular performance at the 16th Hockey India Sub-Junior National Championship 2026.
In the sub-junior men category held at Rajgir, Bihar, Goans Hockey defeated Hockey Jammu and Kashmir 3-2 in a closely contested encounter in its first game in Division 'C'.
In the next match, Goans Hockey trounced Hockey Rajasthan 7-0 in a one-sided game.
The last game saw Goans Hockey got a walk-over against Hockey Tripura.
Goa was placed in Group B along with Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Tripura.
In the sub-junior women category held at Ranchi, Jharkhand, Goans Hockey defeated Hockey Telangana 6-3 in its first game and then went to defeat Hockey Kerala 2-0 in a fiercely fought battle in its next game in Division 'C'.
Goa was placed in Group B along with Telangana and Kerala.
By topping their respective groups, Goa thus qualified to 'B' Division in both the sub-junior men and women category.
The President of Goans Hockey Abhay Bhamaikar and Secretary, Farrel Furtado e Gracias thanked the players and coaches Aviraj Madgaonkar, Riyaz Kambali, Eliter Fernandes, assistant coach Felix Fernandes and Manager Kushi Virnodkar for their spectacular performance.
