Guardian Angel SC, Curchorem, booked their place in the quarterfinals of the Curtorim Panchayat Cup 2025 with a convincing 3-1 win over United Club Verna in a match played on Tuesday at the St Alex Church Ground, Curtorim. The tournament is being organized by Maina Sports Club.
Guardian Angel took early control of the game, with Roston Costa opening the scoring in the 7th minute. Their momentum continued as Preston Castanha found the net in the 19th minute, giving Guardian Angel a comfortable 2-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, United Club Verna showed more intent and created several scoring opportunities, but their forwards failed to convert. Guardian Angel extended their lead further when Preston Castanha scored his second goal of the match in the 42nd minute, making it 3-0. Verna managed to pull one back through Aglon Abranches in the 50th minute, but it was too little, too late, as the match ended 3-1 in favour of the Curchorem side.
Cruz Gomes of Guardian Angel SC was adjudged Man of the Match for his solid performance and received the award from Santano Francisco Rebello, President of Maina Sports Club.
