Guirdolim Club edged past Sao Jose de Areal SC with a narrow 1-0 win to book their place in the quarterfinals of the 17th St. Anthony Festival Cup, organized by St. Anthony Sports Club Assolda and played at the Moll Ground, Assolda, on Wednesday.
Both sides displayed attacking intent from the outset, creating chances at either end, but the deadlock remained unbroken at halftime with the score locked at 0-0.
The decisive moment arrived in the 44th minute when Valentino Carvalho struck for Guirdolim, calmly finishing to give his side the lead.
Despite a spirited effort from Sao Jose de Areal SC in the closing stages, Guirdolim held on to seal the win. Ashnoy Gomes of Sao Jose de Areal SC was awarded the Man of the Match for his standout performance.
