Janata HS, GHS Honda win sub-junior hockey titles

Janata High School, the boys' category winners of Sub-Junior State Hockey Championship.

Janata High School and Government High School, Honda emerged champions in the Sub-Junior State Hockey Championships organised by Goans Hockey on April 22.
In the boys’ category, Father Agnelo High School and Janata High School advanced to the final after winning their respective semifinals against Loyola High School and Damodar English High School. Janata High School went on to defeat Father Agnelo High School, Pilar to clinch the title.
In the girls’ section, Government High School, Honda defeated Damodar English High School, Gudi in a direct contest to lift the trophy.
Sr Wendy Sequeira, Headmistress of Holy Cross, Bastora, presented the trophies and cash prizes in the presence of president Abhay Bhaimaikar.
Later, Crozan Society won the Senior Men’s Championship 2025, defeating Star Sports Club, Gudi after the competition resumed following the settlement of disciplinary issues.
Goans Hockey also confirmed that the Sub-Junior District Championship was postponed due to census duties assigned to physical education teachers. The tournament will now be held after November 18, following the monsoon.
The Senior State Championship 2026 will be scheduled after selection trials post the Asian Cup finals. Meanwhile, the 16th Hockey India National Championship in Pune (April 29 to May 10) has been cancelled due to extreme temperatures, with the same team set to undergo a 21-day training camp.
