Goa clinched the silver medal in beach soccer at the Khelo India Beach Games 2025, finishing second after a spirited campaign that culminated in a tough final against Kerala.
The title clash saw a dominant Kerala side emerge victorious with a 12-4 win, adding yet another trophy to their impressive football cabinet.
Despite the defeat in the final, the Goan side displayed grit and unity throughout the tournament, showing promise against some of the top beach soccer teams in the country.
Speaking after the match, Goa head coach Gavin Araujo praised the team's overall performance:
“Performance-wise, I feel each team member gave their 100%. The team management was motivating and encouraged us throughout this campaign. On one level, I could call this campaign a success, but at the same time, we know we need to work on our potential to achieve our ultimate target.”
Reflecting on the final, Araujo admitted that while the team hoped to lift the trophy, Kerala proved too strong on the day: “We wanted to win the final. The team was disappointed with the loss — although we fought back, it was their day.”
