PANAJI
The media team emerged victorious in the ‘Friendship Cup 2025’ cricket tournament organized by the Rotary Club of Panaji and the Sports Journalists’ Association of Goa (SJAG). The tournament was held at the indoor complex of Panaji Gymkhana.
In the final match, the media team scored 44 runs in 5 overs. In response, Rotary managed to reach only 34 runs. Manish Parab top-scored for the media team with 28 runs. From the Rotary side, Siddhesh Shetye took 1 wicket for just 3 runs, while Vaibhav Kadkade scored 22 runs. Rajaram Bhat from the media team took 2 wickets.
Manish from the media team and Vaibhav Kadkade from Rotary were awarded Player of the Match. Shailesh Zantye (media team) and Dhilan Shah (Rotary) were declared Best Batsmen, while Rajaraj Bhat (media team) and Siddhesh Shetye (Rotary) were adjudged Best Bowlers.
Kishor Petkar, Sports Chief Sub-Editor of Gomantak daily, senior photojournalist Umesh Banastarkar of Tarun Bharat, and senior photographer Kailas Naik, along with Parag Sardesai, Narhar Thakur, Rajiv Marathe, and Nestor Sequeira from the Rotary Club, were felicitated for their contributions.
Director of the Fire Services, Nitin Raikar, was the chief guest at the event. Social activist Apa Shet Tanavade was the guest of honour. Other dignitaries present included Lokik Shilkar, Associate Editor of Prudent Media, Mahesh Gaonkar (President of SJAG), Dhiraj Mahambre (Secretary), and Carlito Martin from the Rotary Club.
