King’s School girls shine at CBSE South Zone-II handball tournament

The King’s School, Sao Jose de Areal participated at the CBSE South Zone-II Handball Tournament 2025-26, held at Dhruv Global School, Sangamner, Maharashtra, from July 24 to 27. The school’s U-14 and U-17 girls’ teams showcased exceptional skill, discipline, and resilience in a league-format competition featuring top teams from across the South Zone-II region, including CBSE schools from Bengaluru, Pune (including Goa), and Thiruvananthapuram regions.

The U-14 girls’ team maintained an undefeated record throughout the tournament, securing victories against Little Flower School (5-2), Birla Open Minds International School (7-0), and Jnanadeepa School, Shimoga (4-3), and drawing with Delhi Public School, Dommasandra (3-3). Despite their remarkable performance with three wins and a draw, they narrowly missed securing a semi-final berth due to goal difference.

The U-17 girls’ team commenced their campaign with a challenging match against J Somaiya School, Sameerwadi, and subsequently rebounded with a dominant 11-0 victory over Birla Open Minds International School. They concluded their campaign against Sri Kumaran Children’s School, Bangalore, demonstrating unwavering determination throughout their matches.

These commendable performances were the culmination of dedicated preparation and expert guidance provided by coaches Malaka Pathan and Santano Furtado. Their contributions were instrumental in fostering the teams’ competitive spirit and enhancing their readiness for the zonal level.

The King’s School extends its sincere gratitude to management including Chairman Melvin Pereira, Director Ligia Pereira, Sports Director Christian Roldan, Principal Tanuja V.N.
