Lourdes Basketball Club, in collaboration with the Goa Basketball Association (GBA), successfully organized a two-day Referees Clinic on July 12 and 13 at Lourdes Convent High School, Saligao.
The clinic witnessed enthusiastic participation from 20 young basketball players and enthusiasts keen to deepen their understanding of the game, along with existing referees who attended to refresh and update their knowledge. Conducted by the highly experienced Olencio Dias, the sessions focused on game mechanics, referee signals, positioning, and rule interpretations—equipping participants with practical and theoretical foundation.
"The initiative represents a significant step towards strengthening the technical backbone of basketball in Goa by nurturing a well-trained pool of referees", stated Parind Nachinolkar, the Goa Basketball Association Secretary. “It was heartening to see such passionate participation at the clinic. GBA remains committed to empowering local talent not just on the court, but also in officiating and technical roles that are vital for the sport’s development and progress”, he added.
