A nine-day summer football camp, organised by Kick Off Football Schools in collaboration with PACT Foundation and supported by AA de Moira Club, got underway at Moira on Friday.
The camp, sponsored by PACT Foundation, is being conducted free of cost and runs from May 1 to 10. It is aimed at providing sports education and empowerment opportunities to children from the Aldona constituency.
Anisha Fernandes, benefactor of PACT Foundation, was the chief guest at the inaugural function, which was also attended by AA de Moira Club president Oscar Lobo, club member Marc Cordeiro, dietician Shriya Shetgaunkar of Manipal Hospital Goa, Andrea Fernandes, founder of Kick Off Football Schools, and head coach Jonas Fernandes.
Addressing the participants, Anisha Fernandes highlighted the importance of equal opportunity in sport. “This camp is very important to us. PACT Foundation is built on a very simple idea that every child deserves a fair shot no matter where you come from, no matter your background. Your future should be defined by your effort, your passion and your opportunities, and that’s exactly what this camp is about,” she said.
Lobo thanked PACT Foundation for organising the camp and encouraged participants to attend regularly and enjoy the game.
Shriya Shetgaunkar later conducted a session on sports nutrition, highlighting the role of proper diet in improving performance and overall health.
PACT Foundation, founded by Dr Ashwin Fernandes, works towards education, youth empowerment and community development through various initiatives across Goa.
