Pavitra Lingsugur of KV I clinched the T.S. Rangarajan memorial, Mormugao Taluka open chess tournament for unrated players. The tournament was exclusively for school students studying in primary section to Std Xth.
In the last round, Pavitra meekly drew with Vansh Nagvekar of Deepvihar HS to remain unbeaten throughout the tournament thus clinched the title. Vansh also with 6.5 had to settle on second position due to his lower tie-break score. Aarvi Naik of Vidhya Vihar finished third, Singh Atharv of KV I remained on fourth place with 6 points and Sanika Naik of St.Threse's HS finished fifth.
Category prizes were also awarded:U-7 to 11 : Nagueshkar Aarav, Gawas Ansh, Dessai Aaradhya, Ghadi Shreesha, Ravinsh Kamat Tanush Rane ,Redkar Shanvi, Kelosker Survi, Desai Sarth, Palekar Atharv Mishka Shah and Aqsa Nadaf.
The tournament was supported by T S Venkataraman in fond memory of his brother, organised by Mormugao Taluka Chess association jointly with Regina Mundi High School Chicalim and was played under the Swiss league system with 7 rounds and attracted a total number of 120 participants.
The prizes were awarded by chief guest Brother Sebastian (Principle Regina Mundi), Kishor Bandekar (President MTCA), Mukund Kambli (Secretary MTCA), Swapnil Hoble (Chief arbiter), Deepak Gawas and Pushpashil Satardekar.
