MARGAO: Peidadegal booked their spot in the semifinals of the 2nd Caniza Peixoto Memorial Football Tournament with a convincing 4-1 victory over Batora United on Friday. The match, organized by Black Arrow Boys Agxem Sports Club, was held at the St. Alex Church Ground in Curtorim.
Batora United made an early impact when Granville Barretto found the net in the 6th minute to give his side the lead. Peidadegal responded with intent, and although James Fernandes missed an early chance in the 10th minute, he soon made amends with a glancing header in the 18th minute to bring the scores level.
Fernandes then took control of the match, putting Peidadegal ahead in the 35th minute with a composed finish. He completed his hat-trick early in the second half with a well-taken curling effort in the 46th minute to extend the lead to 3-1. Anthony Fernandes added a fourth in the 51st minute to seal the result.
James Fernandes was named Man of the Match for his standout performance, with the award presented by Micheal Pars.
