MARGAO: Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club got the better of Goa Velha Sports Club by securing a convincing 3-0 victory in the Anil Kamat Memorial Football Tournament, organized by Enfermos Sports Club.
Sao Jose de Areal started strong with Vanatel Travasso scoring the opening goal in the 12th minute with a well-placed finish. Goa Velha had an opportunity to equalise in the 21st minute, but Satish Kankonkar narrowly missed a golden chance. San Jose de Areal further extended their lead in the 24th minute when Ashnoy Gomes delivered a clinical strike, giving his team a strong advantage heading into halftime.
The second half saw Goa Velha push forward with determination, creating several chances. However, finishing woes plagued them as Satish Kankonkar, Prasil Kankonkar, and Akash failed to convert clear scoring opportunities. Despite good buildup play, Sao Jose de Areal also missed chances to extend their lead, with Leo Gomindes, Tyson Carvalho, and Ashnoy Gomes unable to capitalize.
The decisive blow came in the 52nd minute when Stalen Oliveira scored the third goal for Sao Jose de Areal, effectively sealing the match.
