Vedanta Sesa Goa's Sesa Football Academy has opened its first Girls' Football Centre in Amona. The initiative is aimed to provide young girls with a platform to hone their skills through specialized training programmes and to empower them in a manner that they can leverage the acquired skills to improve their prospects in life.
Leena Verenkar, Head CSR & SCDF, explained that through the centre, Sesa Football Academy aims to nurture talent from the grassroots level and provide a suitable platform for aspiring young girls. She also drew attention to the centre’s potential for creating a talent pool that can ultimately, have the chance to join the senior women's team.
The Centre will provide a fillip to the strong sporting culture in the traditionally football-loving regions of Goa. With the target group being girls aged between 6 to 14 years old, the centre is poised to create a pool of talented players.
