Shiroda Youth Club registered a comfortable 4–1 victory over CAC Cansaulim to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2nd Late Fernando Abranches Memorial Trophy, organised by United Club of Verna. The match was played at the Village Panchayat Ground, Verna, on Saturday.
CAC Cansaulim drew first blood through Aron Fernandes, but their lead was short-lived as Shiroda Youth Club restored parity with an equaliser from Jonathan D’Costa. The teams were locked 1–1 at halftime.
After the change of ends, Shiroda Youth Club took complete control of the proceedings. Jonathan D’Costa struck again to complete his brace and put Shiroda ahead. Cansaulim then missed a golden opportunity to equalise, and Shiroda capitalised on the lapse by adding two more goals through Climax Fernandes and Prajwal Ghadi to seal a convincing win.
Andrew Ferrao, GFA Executive Member, presented the Man of the Match award to Jonathan D’Costa for his match-winning brace for Shiroda Youth Club.
