MARGAO
Ambaulim Boys clinched the 4th All Goa 8-a-side Inter Village Tribal Trophy after edging past Sao Jose de Areal Boys 1–0 in the finals, organised by the Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI), Margao Unit, in association with the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Goa. The final was played at Laymati Football Ground, Davorlim, on Sunday.
The match-winning goal came in the second half from Savlon Fernandes, sealing a hard-fought victory for Ambaulim Boys.
Earlier, the tournament was declared open by Shri Ulhas Tuyekar, MLA of Navelim and Chairman of Kadamba Corporation. The semifinalists Costa Boys, Dicarpali, and Laymati Boys, Davorlim, finished joint third.
Adv. Prasad Naik was the chief guest and presented the prizes in the presence of Menino Colaco, Sarpanch of Davorlim; PI Filomena Costa, Chairperson of YHAI Margao Unit; Laxmidas Mangeshkar, Vice President, Goa State; and Jyothi Mangeshkar. The organisers also thanked Digambar Kamat, MLA of Margao and PWD Minister, who is the President of the Unit, Ajay Gaude, Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, along with other club officials and members who were present for the finals.
