Snows Football Academy emerged champions of the GFA Salcete U-17 Division I League after edging out Salcete Football Club 1-0 in a tightly contested final held at the Rosary Ground, Navelim, on Monday.
Salcete Club nearly opened the scoring when Wayne Stalin H's powerful volley was brilliantly blocked by Snows FA goalkeeper Astroy Costa. Moments later, Anslan Colaco came close to scoring, but his fierce shot narrowly missed the target.
After the break, Salcete Club came out stronger and mounted a series of attacks in search of a breakthrough. However, it was Snows FA who struck decisively in the 65th minute. Anslan Colaco found the back of the net with a clinical finish, giving his team a crucial lead.
Dr. Caitano Fernandes, President of GFA, was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony. He was joined by GFA Senior Vice-President Anthony Pango, former AIFF General Secretary Alberto Colaco, GFA Executive Member Costao Paul Rodriguez, and Agnelo Fernandes, President of Salcete Football Club.
