FC Bengaluru United claimed a 4-1 victory over Sporting Clube de Goa at the Padukone-Dravid CSE Arena 1 on Friday evening. Despite a late goal from Joel and a persistent second-half effort from the Flaming Oranje, the hosts’ clinical finishing determined the outcome of the I-League 2 fixture.
The home side took the lead in the 23rd minute through Lijo K, who converted during a period of early pressure to give Bengaluru a 1-0 advantage at the break.
Sporting Clube de Goa looked to respond immediately after the restart. In the 48th minute, Dattaraj Gaonkar created a clear opening on the right side, but his powerful strike flashed just wide of the far post.
Bengaluru extended their lead in the 64th minute through Akshunna Tyagi. As Sporting pressed for a response, the hosts added further goals through Aenam Jurwah in the 82nd minute and Nikhil Kumar in stoppage time (90+1’).
Sporting’s persistence in attack was rewarded in the 95th minute when Joel found the back of the net to round off the scoring for the visitors.
Following the result, Sporting Clube de Goa remain in the mix at the upper end of the I-League 2 table, currently tied on 10 points with Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC after seven matches.
