MARGAO
St Anthony Sports Club Assolda clinched the 2nd Vauradencho Ixtt Trophy 2026, organised by Batora United Curtorim in association with Margao Sports Club, after edging past United Boys of Ambaulim 7-6 via a tie-breaker in the final at the DSYA ground, Curtorim, on Sunday.
The final witnessed attacking football from both sides in front of a large crowd, with the teams locked at 2-2 at the end of regulation time. Imson Fernandes and Regan Costa scored for Assolda, while Cyril Dias struck a brace to bring Ambaulim back on level terms.
In the resultant tie-breaker, St Anthony Assolda proved to be the better shooters to seal the title.
Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco was the chief guest and presented the prizes. The ceremony was attended by Savio Medeira, former Technical Director of Team India, Anthony Pango, Senior Vice-President of the Goa Football Association, Constancio Paul Rodrigues, Carrey Fernandes, Fr Anthony Joseph Fernandes (SFX Pilar), Fr Peter Fernandes (Pilar), Fr Elvis Fernandes, Fr Caji Fernandes (Pilar), Fr Franky Fernandes (Capuchin, St Lawrence Church, Sinquerim), Melvin D’Costa (HOR), Francisco Fernandes (match commissioner), Arnold Costa, Joaquim Gunja, Bruno Lourenco, businessman Astra Da Silva, ZP member James D’Costa, Joaquim Fernandes, Savio Fernandes (former president of Curtorim), besides club members and officials.
