St Anthony FC Assolda produced a commanding display to defeat Varca Sports Club 2-0 and advance to the quarter-finals of the Assumpta Cup 2026 at the Sarzora ground on Friday.
Assolda asserted control early, taking the lead in the fifth minute through Regan Costa, who finished clinically to give his side a flying start. They doubled their advantage later in the first half with a well-worked move, as the ball was deftly lobbed over the Varca goalkeeper to make it 2-0 at the break.
Varca Sports Club attempted a fightback after the restart and created a few openings, but were unable to break down Assolda’s resolute defence. With no further goals, St. Anthony FC comfortably sealed a 2-0 win to progress to the next round.
