Boxing action on Day 1 at Peddem multi-purpose stadium.

Ashok Patil from Regional Coaching Centre (RCC) Arpora and Navin Gharti from Panjim Boxing Club made it to the upcoming Goa Boxing League after winning their bouts in the Elite category on Day 1 of the All Goa Boxing Championship organised by Goa Amateur Boxing Association at Peddem Boxing Hall, Mapusa.
In the Elite Men’s Fly category (48-51kg), Kailash Gauns emerged victorious against Sameer Kenchikera while in the Welter Category (63.5 -67kg) Ashok Patil defeated Pravin Kamishetty. In the Elite Women’s Light Fly category (48-50kg) Priti Chawan won the bout against Siya Walke.
In the Sub Junior Boys category, Manav Tiwari from RCC Peddem, Suraj Ram from RCC Fatorda and Parmeshwar Rathod from RCC Salvador do Mundo, Porvorim put up a good fight. In the Junior Girls category, Deniella D’Souza and Silvari Varshitha performed well in their respective bouts and were selected for the Goa Boxing League. Sahil Vaidande, who is a Khelo India boxer and represents the RCC Peddem, performed well in a tough bout against Raul Fernandes from Panjim Boxers Club.
The tournament was inaugurated by Executive Director of Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) VM Prabhudesai, former footbaler Bruno Coutinho and international boxing official (International Technical Official) and technical delegate of the championship, Lenny D’Gama.
Speaking at the event, the secretary of GABA, Danuska Da Gama said: "A total of 114 boxers have registered for the championship which is really delightful. Every year there is an improvement in the organisation and performance of the boxers and coaches and they have been working hard to prepare for this championship." The championship saw many new faces from different age groups and coaching centres across Goa.
In the Youth Men’s category Raul Fernandes won against Aditya Tyagi in the 60- 63.5kg category and Sahil Ansari was named the winner against Tejas Rathod in the 54-57kg category. In the Junior Girls category, Shravani Gaurav won the bout against Chaitanya Jadhav in the 44 to 46kg category and Rudha Rathod emerged victorious against Mehra Syed in the 48 to 50kg category. Silvari Varshitha defeated Deniella DSouza in the 57 to 60kg category.
In the Junior Boys category, Laxman Toralkar won against Rehan Kalaigar in the 44 to 46kg category, Ismail Shaikh won his bout against Rohan Yadav in the 52 to 54kg category and Arun Lamani won against Aaron Fernandes in the 52 to 54kg category. The Sub-Junior Boys and Girls finals and semifinals will be held on Day 2 of the championship.
