The 1st Open Funakoshi National Karate Championship 2025, held at the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium, convened over 800 competitors from across India in a display of exceptional martial artistry.
Amidst this distinguished assembly, the Thivim Karate Dojo delivered a superlative performance, amassing 13 medals.
Guided by Sensei Sandesh Santosh Kolikar (Black Belt 3rd Dan) and mentored by Sensei Mahendra Naik, IJKAI Goa’s Style Head, the contingent demonstrated exemplary technical finesse. The championship’s most eminent performer was Mahaj Vinayak Porob, who secured dual Gold medals in Kumite and Kata, exhibiting remarkable composure, superior technique, and exceptional competitive maturity at a notably young age.
The dojo’s medal tally featured a constellation of outstanding competitors, with Gold medals won by Mahaj Vinayak Porob (Kata, Kumite), Ehaan Kamat (Kata), Shaurya Kambli (Kata), Aarushi Kerkar (Kata) and Hitanshi Jayant (Kata). Silver honours were earned by Parth Walavalkar (Kata, Kumite), Sidhant Reddy (Kata), Aryan Shinde (Kata) and Aarushi Kerkar (Kumite), while Bronze medals were secured by Sidhant Reddy (Kumite) and Aryan Shinde (Kumite), collectively underscoring the formidable calibre of the Thivim contingent.
