MARGAO: Youth of Pidadigal FC stormed into the quarterfinals of the 2nd Caniza Peixeto Memorial 9-a-side Football Tournament with a dominant 4-0 win over Corjem Youth Club on Wednesday. The tournament is organised by Black Arrow Boys Agxem Sports Club and being played at St. Alex Church ground, Curtorim.
Despite rain affecting the match, both teams displayed spirited football. However, it was Youth of Pidadigal who took full control, scoring twice in each half.
Aliston Fernandes led the charge with a brace, finding the net in the 22nd and 35th minutes. Velroy Pais and Velrino Fernandes added to the tally with goals in the 30th and 44th minutes respectively.
Aliston Fernandes was named Man of the Match and received his award from Joel Paes, member of Agxem Sports Club.
