MARGAO
Margao is set to host Goa’s biggest badminton event — the Super Badminton League 2025 — on July 5 and 6 at the Fatorda Indoor Sports Complex. The tournament coincides with World Badminton Day on July 5 and aims to encourage greater participation in the sport across the state.
Organised by Madgaon Shuttlers in collaboration with the Goa Badminton Association and South Goa District Badminton Association, the league will feature six teams selected through a real-money auction — the first such format for badminton in Goa. Team owners bid for players to form balanced and competitive squads, with an emphasis on including young local talent.
The six teams are: Radiant Sports Club – Owners: Ketan Bhatikar, Naveed Tehsildar & Sidharth Rivonkar; Captain: Parag Chauhan; Icon Player: Tejan Fallary
Badminators – Owner: Nikhil Moye; Captain: Amit Kakkar; Icon Player: Avdhut Saptoji
Racket Rangers – Owners: Kevin Miranda & Conny Miranda; Captain: Kamlesh Kanji; Icon Player: Arjun Fallary
Priority Titans – Owners: Swapneel Nachinolkar, Praveen Shenoy & Dinesh Pai; Captain: Pankaj Naik; Icon Player: Sanath V. Kamat
Antruz Warriors – Owner: Jaywant Saraf; Captain: Ganesh P. Vernekar; Icon Player: Aryaman Saraf
Margao High Flyers – Owners: Ehrick Ataide & Rohit Mehta; Captain: Vishal Verneker; Icon Player: Mayank Raj
The event will begin with an opening ceremony on July 5, followed by two days of league matches. The top-performing teams will compete in the final rounds on July 6.
The Super Badminton League 2025 seeks to highlight local talent and promote badminton as a mainstream sport in Goa.
