Shantilal Sports Club players and sports personalities of the state on Sunday bid their final adieu to footballer Ladino Alfredo Francisco Correia D’Cunha, father of former India midfielder and East Bengal footballer Alvito D’Cunha. Ladino was 83 and is survived by his daughter Melinda and son Alvito.
His last journey began at 3 pm from his residence for the Eucharistic celebration at Guardian Angel Church, after which his mortal remains were laid to rest at the Guardian Angel Church Cemetery in Curchorem. Among those present were Lector Mascarenhas, General Secretary of Dempo Sports Club; Prasana Bhende, chairperson of CMC; Balkrishna Hodarkar alias Pintu; Johncy Fernandes, president of Guardian Angel Sports Club; Ali, councilor of CMC; and officials of East Bengal. Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral also visited the bereaved family and presented a bouquet.
