The athletes from Genesis Calisthenics Park Goa excelled at the two-day All-India Calisthenics event, organised by the Kratos Calisthenics Arena, at Hitech City in Hyderabad, recently.

Calisthenics are exercises that don’t rely on anything but body weight, which allows a athlete to develop strength, endurance, flexibility and coordination.

Team Genesis Goa which comprised of 11 participants won four events, as they competed with participants from Dehli, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Cochin, Pune, Odisha, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

Pansy Pinto won in the three categories of Street lifting female category (champion), Statics female category (runner-up) and Beginner Endurance Female Category (runner-up). Adarsh Kalekar finished as runner-up in the Beginner Endurance category.

“Our dedicated and hard-working athletes showcased their remarkable skills and agility. The event witnessed tough competition from various teams across the country making our win was even more special,” said Joe Fernandes, who accompanied the team.

“It is a proud moment for us Goans as our team has put in months of rigorous training and determination to achieve this feat. Rohan Singh and Rajan Sharma, India's top two Calisthenics judges and founders of All India Strength war, who introduced Calisthenics in India, were the judges for the event.”

“These are individuals who are hard-working and disciplined at this age when youth are usually focused on parties. For Adarsh Kalekar, it started as part-time training as a hobby in his backyard. Now, he has his own full-fledged calisthenics park where he trains athletes along with other two coaches, Raj Misal and Nimay Kamat,” Fernandes added.
