MARGAO: Assonora United cruised into the quarterfinals of the 1st Vedanta Trophy Inter-Village Football Tournament with a commanding 5-1 victory over FC Tuem at the Chowgule ground on Friday. The tournament is being organized by Sinquerim Sports Club.
Assonora United took a strong 3-1 lead into halftime, thanks to a sensational performance by Kunaal Salgaonkar, who netted all five goals for his team. He found the back of the net in the 9th, 17th, 48th, 50th, and 56th minutes, delivering a masterclass in finishing.
FC Tuem managed to pull one back in the 53rd minute through Sengiuos Fernandes, but it proved only a consolation.
Kunaal Salgaonkar’s stunning five-goal haul earned him the well-deserved ‘Man of the Match’ award.
