Betalbatim thrash SFX 12-0 in U-14 League

Betalbatim Sporting Club produced a dominant performance to thrash St Francis Xavier’s Gonvoli 12-0 in the GFA Under-14 Division II South Goa clash at Sinquetim Sports Complex, Navelim, on Thursday.
Betalbatim took control early, with Vawn Ferrao opening the scoring in the 4th minute and doubling the lead soon after. Raunak Singh and Roger Baa added to the tally, while Jollan Colaco struck multiple times, including a hat-trick.
The second half saw continued dominance, with Sushant Madvi, Dane Rodrigues and David Baretto also finding the net. Ferrao completed his hat-trick as Betalbatim sealed a comprehensive victory.
In another match, Ave Maria Athletics & Walkers Club, Benaulim edged past Salcete FC 1-0 at Betalbatim Church ground, with Samuel Olveiro scoring the winner in the 42nd minute.
St Sebastian Murida edge past Assolda
MARGAO: St Sebastian Youth Club, Murida-Fatorda, prevailed over St Anthony Assolda 6-5 via tie-breaker to enter the quarterfinals of the late Manuel Joao Pereira and late Menino Santan Fonceca football tournament, organised by Navelim Sporting Club at Rosary Church ground, Navelim, on Thursday.
The match ended 2-2 in regulation time, with Regan Costa and Richard Fernandes scoring for Assolda, while Richie Vaz and Shubert Colaco netted for Murida.
In the tie-breaker, Murida converted through Rahul Sharma, Velito Miranda, Alfred Noronha and Judson Soares, while Assolda’s scorers were Richard Fernandes, Daniel D’Costa and Valentino Carvalho. Shubert Colaco was named Player of the Match.
Ambelim SC beat Fr Agnelo, enter last eight
MARGAO: Ambelim SC booked their place in the quarterfinals of the Wilred Leisure Football Tournament with a narrow 1-0 win over Fr Agnelo YSC Paroda at the DYSA ground, Curtorim, on Thursday. Rayon Pinto scored the all-important goal to secure Ambelim’s progression into the last eight.
Fencing selection trials on March 28
PANAJI: The Goa Fencing Association will conduct selection trials for boys’ and girls’ categories at the Athletic Stadium, Cujira, Bambolim, on March 28, from 3 pm onwards. The trials will be held to select fencers to represent Goa at the 21st Cadet (U-17) National Fencing Championship, scheduled to be held in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, from April 21 to 26. Interested participants have been asked to report at the venue and may contact coach Deepaksingh Rajput or Kushal Das for further details. Fencers are required to carry their own swords, headgear and complete fencing kit for the trials.
