The third edition of the Little Gaurs League (LGL) Super Cup concluded this weekend at the Bambolim Athletic Stadium, marking the end of the 2024–2025 season of Goa’s largest grassroots football league for children.
Organized by the Forca Goa Foundation, the Super Cup served as the culmination of the season’s competition, which featured over 1500 children across five age categories – U-6, U-8, U-10, U-12, and U-13 Girls. Matches were held across four zones: Sinquetim, Vasco, Monte de Guirim, and Tuem, with 162 teams playing a total of 1,225 games throughout the season.
The final event brought together the top two teams from each category and zone, totaling 40 teams and over 350 players. The matches, held in front of packed stands filled with families and supporters, highlighted the enthusiasm for youth football across the state.
The Super Cup saw intense contests, with several matches decided by penalty shootouts. The U-6 final between Magic Sporting Club and Phoenix FC ended in a 4–4 draw, with Magic emerging victorious 2–1 on penalties. The U-8 and U-10 categories also featured shootouts, as did key knockout matches in the U-12 and U-13 girls’ divisions.
Among the guests at the closing ceremony were local coaches and players, including Coach Premson Fernandes, Coach Shane Temudo, FC Goa Development team players Akash Oraow and Manjot Singh, and Siraj Benaulikar, Goa State Head of Reliance Youth Sports.
