Goa defeat Jammu & Kashmir by 14 runs

Goa registered a commendable 14-run victory over Jammu & Kashmir in the U-23 Women’s T20 Elite Cricket Tournament, on Saturday. The match was played at the Lady Amritabai Daga College Ground in Nagpur.

Batting first, Goa put up a steady total of 124 for 5 in 20 overs. The highlight of the innings was Athashree Shivrakar, who top-scored with a solid unbeaten 32 off 28 balls, striking four boundaries. Openers Harshita Yadav and wicketkeeper-batter Tanisha Gaikwad provided stability with 20 runs each, while Usma Khan and skipper Tanaya Naik contributed 19 runs apiece, helping Goa reach a competitive total.

For Jammu & Kashmir, Mariya Nuren and Ananya Sharma picked up two wickets each, while Ridhima Rajput claimed one.

Chasing 125, Jammu & Kashmir kept losing wickets at regular intervals and could manage only 110 for 9, falling short by 14 runs. Their only notable knock came from Shambhavi Rajput, who scored 38 runs.

Goa’s bowling unit put on a disciplined show. Usma Khan led the attack with 2 wickets for 19 runs ,Tanaya Naik followed with 2 for 29, Harshita Yadav bowled economically, conceding just 8 runs, Metali Gavandar took 1 for 10, Pooja Kalel chipped in with 1 for 19.

With this important win, Goa now have two victories and two losses from four matches and stand fourth in the Elite Group D points table. Goa will play their final group match against Hyderabad on December 1.
