MARGAO: Navelim Villagers Union produced a disciplined and clinical performance to defeat UB Dando Colva 2-0 in the 25th Benaulim Panchayat Cup football tournament organised by Dando Boys Club Benaulim at the St. John the Baptist Panchayat Ground, Dando, Benaulim.
Navelim gradually took control of the proceedings and were rewarded for their dominance when Joyson Coutinho converted a precise pass from Richard Costa, calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper to hand his side a 1-0 lead at the interval.
After the restart, Navelim continued to dictate play through the midfield. Richard Costa, Joyson Couthino, Vellington Almeida and Sandroy Costa combined effectively, controlling possession and setting the tempo of the match. Despite Colva's efforts to stage a comeback, Navelim's organised defence and disciplined approach kept them firmly in command.
The result was sealed in the closing stages when Travis Souza found the back of the net to score Navelim's second goal and put the contest beyond doubt.
Richard Costa was the standout performer for Navelim Villagers Union and was named Man of the Match for his influential display in midfield. The award was presented by Seby Fernandes, President of Dando Boys Club Benaulim.
