Dempo Challengers to face U Mumba in UTT opener

Season 7 set to be played in Goa from July 9

Two-time champions Dempo Goa Challengers will begin their Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) Season 7 campaign with a high-profile clash against reigning champions U Mumba TT in the tournament opener on July 9 at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Taleigao.

The opening tie, scheduled for 7.30 pm, will mark the start of a 17-day competition featuring seven franchises battling for India's premier table tennis league title. As hosts and one of the most successful teams in the league's history, Dempo Goa Challengers will look to make a strong start in front of their home supporters against the defending champions.

The Goa franchise will play six league-stage ties in the single round-robin format, with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals. Following the opener, Dempo Goa Challengers will face Ahmedabad APL Pipers on July 12 before taking on Kolkata ThunderBlades on July 13.

One of the marquee fixtures of the season will see Dempo Goa Challengers renew their rivalry with Dabang Delhi TTC on July 17 in a rematch of the 2024 UTT final. The Goa side will then face PBG Pune Jaguars on July 19 and UP Prometheans on July 22 to conclude their league campaign.

The semi-finals are scheduled for July 24 and 25, while the Season 7 final will be played on July 26.

Organised under the aegis of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI), UTT Season 7 will feature Ahmedabad APL Pipers, Dabang Delhi TTC, Dempo Goa Challengers, Kolkata ThunderBlades, PBG Pune Jaguars, U Mumba TT and UP Prometheans. All matches will be played in Goa and broadcast live on the Star Sports Network, while also being streamed on JioHotstar.
