MARGAO: SC Virabhat booked their place in the final of the 9-a-side Curtorim Interward Football Tournament 2026 with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Cumborda SC at the St Alex Church Ground, Curtorim. The tournament is being organised by Sporting Club Virabhat.
The all-important goal came in the 15th minute when Vivon Fernandes found the back of the net to give SC Virabhat an early lead.
Cumborda SC came close to restoring parity in the first half, but Marcus Fernandes was denied by an excellent save from Virabhat goalkeeper Cliff Fernandes.
After the break, Cumborda increased the pressure in search of an equaliser, but the Virabhat defence stood firm. Cumborda's best chance came through Melvin Fernandes, whose powerful effort struck the post and went out of play.
With no further goals scored, SC Virabhat held on to secure a 1-0 win and a place in the final, where they will face Agxem SC on June 14.
Vivon Fernandes of SC Virabhat was named Man of the Match for his match-winning performance. The award was presented by Jose Fernandes, member and former player of SC Virabhat.
