MARGAO: Rebello Pandal Maina produced a remarkable second-half comeback to defeat Chandrawaddo Boys, Fatorda 3-2 and book their place in the quarterfinals of the 5th All Goa 8-a-side Inter Village Football Tournament, organized by Davorlim Sports and Cultural Club at the Laymati Ground.
Chandrawaddo Boys started the match in explosive fashion, netting twice within the opening ten minutes. Clencio Pinto opened the scoring in the 7th minute, followed by a quick second from Franson in the 10th, giving Fatorda a commanding 2-0 lead at halftime.
But the second half belonged entirely to Rebello Pandal Maina. They regrouped and began asserting control, with Joywin Carneiro pulling one back in the 30th minute. Nickson Castanha then levelled the score in the 45th minute, setting up a tense finale.
In the dying moments of the match, Joywin Carneiro struck again with a composed finish, sealing his brace and completing an incredible comeback to send his team through to the last eight.
