Sesa Football Academy (SFA) head coach Severino Fernandes is optimistic about his team’s prospects as they gear up for the Indian Women’s League 2 (IWL-2) Final Round, set to take place at the GFA Duler Stadium, Mapusa on May 9.

Fernandes expressed confidence in his players, stating that the team is in good shape and mentally prepared for the challenge.

“This is a big opportunity. The results may not always be in our hands, but I firmly believe this team is capable of beating anyone and earning a place on the podium,” he said.

The coach emphasized the importance of staying focused, urging his players to approach the tournament one match at a time.

“We’re not looking too far ahead. Our first goal is to qualify. We've worked not just on tactics and technique, but also on the mental strength of the team. In that aspect, this squad is one of the strongest I’ve ever coached,” Fernandes added.

SFA enters the final phase of IWL-2 with the same squad that topped their group in the earlier rounds. The team boasts several promising junior players, many of whom are on the verge of breaking into the senior setup.

“Our preparation has been intense. The girls are pumped up and eager to perform. High-intensity games like these are crucial — they show us where we stand and push us to raise our level,” said Fernandes.

With a balanced squad, strong work ethic, and a growing sense of belief, Fernandes is hopeful the team will deliver another memorable performance and continue to make Goa proud on the national stage.
