Seraulim Veterans staged a superb second-half comeback to defeat Colva Veterans 3-1 and lift the title in the 4th Benaulim Constituency Veterans Football Tournament, organised and sponsored by Capt Venzy Viegas.
The final, played before a large and enthusiastic crowd, saw Colva Veterans take the lead in the first half through Sheilu after an evenly contested opening period.
Seraulim Veterans, however, returned from the break with greater purpose and dominated the proceedings. Sandeep Shanke brought his side level with a well-directed header before Jess Cardoso emerged as the match-winner, scoring twice in quick succession to complete a memorable turnaround and secure the championship.
Earlier, in an exhibition match, Holy Trinity Parish Youth registered a convincing 3-0 victory over St John the Baptist Parish Youth.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by chief guest Capt Venzy Viegas, who presented the trophies and awards in the presence of Fr Nicholas Dias of the Delhi Archdiocese, ZP member Anthony Leo Fernandes and other dignitaries, bringing the tournament to a successful conclusion.
