MARGAO: St Anthony FC, Assolda advanced to the quarterfinals of the United Trophy Inter-Village Football Tournament with a 3-1 victory over Sporting Club of Davorlim at the Rosary Grounds, Navelim.
Sporting Club of Davorlim took an early lead in the 19th minute through Agnelo Colaco. St. Anthony FC quickly responded, with Vitorino Fernandes equalising in the 29th minute, ending the first half 1-1.
In the second half, Assolda turned the match in their favour. Sunny Fernandes scored in the 55th minute, followed by Freazer Gomes adding another goal in the 58th minute to seal the 3-1 win.
The Man of the Match award was presented to Francis Fernandes of Sporting Club of Davorlim by Benjamin D’Silva, former Chandor player.
St. Anthony FC, Assolda, will now face their next opponents in the tournament quarterfinals.
