MARGAO
St Joseph Institute, Chandor emerged champions in the Under-16 boys volleyball tournament organised by Saviour of the World High School, Loutolim and played at Church court, Loutolim. In the finals they defeated Our Lady of Carmel High School, Curtorim, 25-21 and 25-23 sets.
Fr Livio Mello was the chief guest and headmistress Mariella Rodrigues spoke on the occasion. Trophies, certificates and cash awards were presented to the teams.
The following individual prizes were awarded: Best smasher of the tournament - Morgan Fernandes (St Joseph Institute, Chandor), Best player of the tournament - Juvelan Fernandes (Our Lady of Carmel, Curtorim), Most promising player Farhan Khan (St Joseph Institute, Chandor)
Manthan Prabhu and Vishal Gauns officiated the matches. Christopher D’Souza compered and Genevieve Diniz coordinated the event.
