Tejas Kurtikar wins chess tournament

Tejas Kurtikar emerged champion at the Chess in School Tournament (Academic Year 2025–26) organised by the Ponda Taluka Chess Association under the guidance of the Goa Chess Association. The tournament, held for students of Wagle Primary School, took place at Desai Pratishthan Hall, Mangeshi.

Manasvi Tivrekar secured the second place, followed by Aradhya More, Vansh Gaude, Krushank Kuncolienkar, Chitresh Shirke, Vivaan Naik, Akshat Ukivade, Bhuvika Gaude, and Avanish Kunkalienkar, who finished from third to tenth place respectively.

Prizes and certificates were presented by Chief Guest Kalidas Tivrekar in the presence of Sagar Sakordekar, President of Ponda Taluka Chess Association; Amogh Namshiker, Secretary; Sandesh Naik, Treasurer; chess coach Milind Gaude; and Mitasha Aigal, Headmistress of Wagle High School.

Teachers Fiona Fernandes, Preeti Kurtarkar, Neeta Mahajan, Sambhaji More, Shashikala Gaude, and Diksha Alavani, along with PTCA member Radha Sakordekar and members of the PTA committee, actively assisted in organising the tournament.
