United Boys of Ambaulim clinched the eighth Martin’s Cup after defeating St Rock Youth Club Calata 4-0 in the final at the Panchayat Ground in Betalbatim on Wednesday.
United Boys of Ambaulim dominated proceedings in all departments and scored four unanswered goals during regulation time. Sowell Fernandes struck twice in the 36th and 56th minutes, while Joel Baretto opened the scoring in the 21st minute. Visiton Fernandes added another goal in the 36th minute to complete the rout.
Parish priest Fr Adriano Furtado attended the final as chief guest and distributed the prizes in the presence of Fr Agapito D'Cunha, Bonny Pereira, club president Melvin Cota, Jose Pereira, and other officials.
Several individual awards were presented after the match. Ibon Fernandes of United Boys of Ambaulim was named Best Goalkeeper of the Final, while Oscar of St Rock Calata received the Man of the Match award. Crimson Fernandes of United Boys of Ambaulim was adjudged Best Defender, and Klusner Pereira of Betalbatim Sporting Club was named Player of the Tournament. The Best Disciplined Team award went to Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda.
