United Boys Ambaulim edged past Raia Sporting Club 3-2 in a tense tie-breaker to book their spot in the quarterfinals of the Curtorim Panchayat Cup 2025, organized by Maina Sports Club and played at the St. Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Wednesday.
The match began with an early opportunity for Ambaulim in the 5th minute, but Soweil Fernandes’ shot was brilliantly saved by Raia goalkeeper Floyd Pereira. Raia had their chances too, but their strikers failed to find the target, as the first half ended goalless.
In the second half, Ambaulim continued to press forward and created several goal-scoring opportunities. However, Raia's keeper Floyd Pereira stood tall, delivering a stellar performance between the posts and denying Ambaulim on multiple occasions.
With neither team able to break the deadlock in regulation time, the match went into a tie-breaker, where United Boys Ambaulim held their nerve to seal a 3-2 win.
Bradley Carvalho, Julius Carvalho, and Soweil Fernandes converted their spot-kicks for Ambaulim, while Joswel Cardozo and Ancel Tavares were the scorers for Raia.
Raia Sporting's goalkeeper Floyd Pereira was named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance and was presented the award by Rafael Fernandes, member of Maina Sports Club.
