MARGAO: United Club of Verna produced a dominant display to outclass Carmona Sports Club 5-0 and storm into the semifinals of the Mount Carmel Trophy, organised by Our Lady of Mount Carmel Chapel, Telaulim in association with Carmel Sports Club, at Rosary Church Ground, Navelim on Saturday.
Verna were in complete control throughout the match, with Desmond Pereira leading the charge by scoring a well-taken brace. He was ably supported by Meldon Moniz, Jesley Moniz, and Johann Abranches, each finding the back of the net once to complete a comprehensive team performance.
Carmona Sports Club struggled to cope with Verna’s attacking intensity and failed to break down their well-organised defence, as United Club of Verna maintained a firm grip on proceedings from start to finish.
Meldon Moniz was adjudged Man of the Match by GFA referee Joywin Costa for his impactful performance.
