Vaidya Memorial indoor tournament sees grand response in Ponda

The Late Prabhakar Vaidya and Late Usha Vaidya Memorial Sarsangan Badminton and Table Tennis Open Tournament 2025, organised by the Saraswat Sports Sangh Charitable Trust, was successfully held on October 12 at the SAG Sports Complex, Ponda. The tournament received an overwhelming response, with over 250 participants competing across various categories in both badminton and table tennis.

The event was inaugurated by Shri Shilesh Vaidya, Founder of the Vaidya Foundation, and Shri Praveen Shenoy, Secretary of the Goa Badminton Association, who encouraged the athletes to pursue their passion and uphold the spirit of healthy competition.

The tournament featured intense matches in different age groups, highlighting Goa's growing enthusiasm for indoor sports. Among the key highlights in badminton, Saeesh Prabhu Desai and Anar Singbal secured top honours in the Mixed Doubles 60+ category, while Rishi Pai Khot and Shripad Deshpande clinched the Men’s Open Doubles title. In the Junior Boys Singles, Viraditya Nitish Pai Kane emerged champion, and Anaya Kamat triumphed in the Women’s Singles.

In the table tennis section, Dhruv Kamat won the Junior Boys Singles, while Sagar Kulkarni took the Open Singles title. Pushkar Virginkar and Surendra Chube topped the Open Doubles, and Deep Bhende claimed victory in the 40+ Singles category. The 100+ Doubles event saw Rajendra Naik and Vishnu Colvalkar finishing in first place.

The closing ceremony was presided over by Dr. Ketan Bhatikar, renowned physiotherapist and social worker, who lauded the organisers for promoting fitness and community spirit.
