Chicalim cricketer Veer Yadav played a match-winning innings of 80 runs as Goa Cricket Association registered a five-wicket victory over Nepal Cricket Association in the 42nd All India Uttarakhand Gold Cup 2026.
Chasing Nepal's total of 210/9, Goa reached 215/7 in 33.4 overs, with Veer anchoring the innings with a composed 80 off 91 balls. His knock, which included four boundaries and four sixes, came at a crucial stage and helped Goa successfully overhaul the target.
The young batter showed remarkable patience and temperament, holding the innings together after early setbacks and building partnerships that kept Goa on track.
Veer received support from Lalit Yadav, who scored 42 runs, while captain Snehal Kauthankar chipped in with 23. Earlier, Deepraj Gaonkar set up the victory with a brilliant six-wicket haul that restricted Nepal to 210 runs.
The performance has brought pride to Chicalim, as Veer is the son of Chicalim Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav. Cricket enthusiasts and residents from the village have congratulated the youngster for his outstanding effort on the national stage.
