Wilred Leisure Sports Club edged past Dando Boys Club, Benaulim 5–4 in a tie-breaker to book their place in the finals of the Varca Panchayat Cup, organised by Varca Sports Club at the Varca ground on Friday.
The teams went into the break locked at 0–0, with neither side able to convert their chances. In the second half, Joel Martins’ powerful free-kick for Dando Boys Club was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Tino Fernandes. Both sides continued to press forward, but strong defending and missed opportunities kept the scores level at the end of regulation time.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Wilred Leisure Sports Club, Curtorim converted through James Fernandes, Fredy Hilario, Aliston Fernandes, Ryan Fernandes and Vensly Paes. For Dando Boys Club, Benaulim, the scorers were Vishal Fernandes, Luis Fernandes, Faisal Bepari and Maxwell Rodrigues.
Desly Pexeito of Wilred Leisure Sports Club was adjudged Man of the Match.
Wilred Leisure Sports Club will now face United Boys of Ambaulim in the Varca Panchayat Cup final on December 7.
